The Pacific Rim International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
(PRICAI) is a biennial international event which concentrates on AI theories,
technologies and their applications in the areas of social and economic importance for
countries in the Pacific Rim. The Program Committee invites technical papers on
substantial, original, and unpublished research in all aspects of Artificial
Intelligence. PRICAI 2012 aims to bring together a large and diverse community, which includes practitioners, researchers, educators, and users.

Special Session: Creative Computing
Artificial Intelligence can add values to creative industries. Intelligent
computational techniques have successfully been applied to many different
kinds of creative applications, notably, in graphic design, computer animation and
special effects. However many research issues are still open.
The proposed session aims to bring together leading researchers and
practitioners in this field who are working on applying computational intelligence methods to applications in creative industries.

It aims to provide the opportunity to promote, present and discuss ongoing
work in the area. This special session will be one of the presentation tracks as
part of the PRICAI 2012 event, from 5-7 September, 2012 in Kuching, Malaysia. All
accepted papers will be presented orally at the event and will be published by Springer as
a volume of Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI series) which is
abstracted and indexed in ISI Proceedings and Scopus.

The topic of this special sesssion include but not limited to
Application of Artificial Intelligence in Creative Industries: Crative
computing for digital media, Computer aided design, Computer generated special effects
for film, Cartoon animation, Games, Music, Edutainment, etc.;

Art and Cognition: Art and the Brain; Creative process; Emotion and
meaning in paintings, music, sculptures, poetry, etc.;

Generative Art: Systems that create drawings, images, animations,
sculptures, poetry, text, graphic designs, musical pieces, soundfonts, sound effects, film
music, etc.;

Aesthetic evaluation: Aesthetic analysis of film, image, music, sound,
sculpture, etc.
