31st European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics

ECCE 2013 – 31st European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics

Work, Education, Society

August 26th-28th, 2013, Toulouse, France

The 2013 European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics (ECCE 2013) is the
31st annual conference of the European Association of Cognitive
Ergonomics (EACE). It is a premier and long-standing conference in the
area, also covering cognitive engineering and human technology
interaction. The ECCE series of conferences provide an excellent
opportunity for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and
experiences about all aspects of cognitive ergonomics.
The main theme of ECCE 2013 is “Work, Education, Society”.

21st century society bears witness to an increasing inter-penetration
of the worlds of work and education. Education infiltrates work, given
needs for flexibility and lifelong learning, supported by training. At
all levels, education is increasingly oriented towards the wider world
of work, as evidenced by project-oriented pedagogies. Online communities
of practice provide evidence that learning crosses the boundaries of
established societal institutions. Such evolutions question the
inter-relationship between productive and constructive activities,
together with the requirement to examine the influence of embedded
technical, social and organizational environments. What is the
potential, in terms of autonomy, possible actions, and control of tasks
or activities, for the cognitive development of individuals and teams?
In addition to the general topics of the ECCE conference series, we
seek to encourage significant dialogue and discussion among conference
participants on this main theme.

Submissions in the form of long papers, short papers, and posters are
welcomed. The main conference will be followed by a full day dedicated
to Workshops and to a Doctoral Consortium.
