Workshop on Designing Mobile Augmented Reality
August 27, 2013, Munich, Germany  held at ACM MobileHCI 2013

Workshop: August 27, 2013, Munich, Germany, as part of MobileHCI 2013

Submission deadline: Friday, May 10, 2013

The workshop “Designing Mobile Augmented Reality” is a full day
workshop at MobileHCI 2013 aiming at practitioners and researchers to discuss the
current state of mobile AR and leading to more informed decisions when
exploring the design space of mobile AR interfaces.

We are seeking to capture the state of the art as well as discussing
future concepts on mobile AR interfaces. The workshop will comprise of a paper
session where research papers, late-breaking results and overviews over
state-of-the-art are presented.

Participation is open to all attendees registering for the workshop,
not only to the presenters of the workshop. We explicitly invite non-research
attendees to join us as well and provide valuable insight into commercial areas
of interest and constraints.

Topics include but are not limited to:

– Conceptual approaches for designing mobile AR
– Research on the role of “Reality” within mobile AR applications
– Designing for uncertainty (social context, tracking quality)
– Exploring the handheld – head mounted display design space
– Adaptive interface techniques for AR
– Interfaces for mobile Social AR applications
– Studies and applications investigating mobile AR interfaces in the wild
– Artistic mobile AR interfaces
– Supporting collocated interaction (collaborative, competitive)
– Toolkits and methods for prototyping mobile AR interfaces
– Models and frameworks for evaluating mobile AR interfaces

Paper submissions should have a length of 2-4 pages and can be novel
research findings, position papers, or case studies, addressing one or more of
the topics mentioned above. Papers should be submitted via email to:

Each paper submission will be reviewed by at least 2 members of the
Program Committee. Participants will be selected on the basis of their
submissions. Papers should be formatted according to the standard HCI Archive format
